According to the I-L38 Y DNA haplogroup project, L38 is known as the Lichtenstein haplogroup because Bronze Age bones discovered in a cave there were classified as such (SNP long forms have since undergone a renumbering since the discovery and classification). Hans de Beule, one of the project co-administrators, has a website devoted to I-L38.

I-L38 Connollys so far appear to be falling downstream under S24121. They are grouped in project Clusters 0200 and 0205.

Three Conley project members fall under I-L38. They are not STR matches, but one tester has not fully extended his markers. One member is confirmed to fall under I-L38 > S24121 subclade shown on this page by testing with an SNP pack. Two other members appear to be more closely matched to each other, and fall downstream under BY126018.

The paternal line origins of these two testers are given as Limerick and Cork, two counties in the Province of Munster in Ireland.

There is too little data in this haplogroup to even calculate a sufficient modal haplotype.

R-BY126018 in particular seems to be from the vicinity of Drinagh and Clonakilty in west Cork.

The project is looking for more Connolly testers with ancestry from Munster.

Conley project members can improve the data on this website by EXPERT LEVEL PARTICIPATION.
