R-Z39589 is a Big Daddy in Irish paternal clan genetics. It is the parent haplogroup of R-M222, the haplogroup associated with Niall of the Nine Hostages. It predates its descendant SNP M222 by maybe 2000 years.

This haplogroup has not confined itself to the north. It has threaded itself throughout Ireland and has a tremendous number of subclades.

BY3925 has appeared in West Cork. The project needs many more Connolly testers from Munster.
